We have officially entered into the season of autumn. The Fall asks us to slow down and to nurture ourselves. The changing of seasons is usually enough of a transition and adjustment without added national and global events.

We are living in a very unique time in our world and nations history. 2020 has been challenging for everyone. Between managing the necessary changes due to the novel corona virus, weathering the smoke and storms, and feeling the effects of an election year with numerous natural disasters and civil unrest, our nervous systems and in effect our health can get a little out of whack!

Restoring Blood Flow and Healing

Acupuncture calms the central nervous system and engages the parasympathetic nervous system, the “rest and digest” part of our nervous systems. It is vitally important for our bodies to be able to enter into a parasympathetic state for proper blood flow and for healing. It is a natural state that is often short circuited by the stressors of every day life.

Here are some tips for home self care:

  • Take five deep breaths right now! Deep breathing exercises are especially important this time of the year.
  • Make sure to be drinking enough warm or room temperature water.
  • Nourish yourself with the delicious abundance of fall. Roasted squash and root veggies, spiced chai teas, warm apple ciders are all so good for your this time of year.
