Is acupuncture safe?

Yes. The FDA regulates the production and sale of all needles, which are sterile, individually packaged, single-use, and disposed in a hazardous-waste-sharps-container. An acupuncture treatment involves the insertion of fine, sterile needles into specific acupuncture points along the body’s meridians to clear energy blockages and encourage the normal flow of qi through the body. The origins of acupuncture in China can be traced back at least 2500 years, making it one of the oldest and most long-standing health care systems in the world. Today, acupuncture is a safe, effective, natural, and increasingly popular form of health care that is being used by people from a wide range of cultural and social backgrounds.

What can I expect at the initial visit?

This initial visit is scheduled for 90 minutes. We carefully tailor each treatment to your specific constitution and presenting condition. Through a comprehensive health history intake and diagnostic evaluation, including taking your pulse and looking at your tongue, you will receive a combination of appropriate applications to treat your body, mind, and spirit. These may include a variety of techniques including acupuncture, herbal prescriptions, moxa, cupping, and/or craniosacral therapy.

Once your diagnosis and treatment plan is established you will enjoy resting on the treatment table while fine sterile needles are inserted into several locations on your body, primarily on your extremities. We are known for our gentle needle technique, and very few people feel any painful sensation. It is possible to have the experience of “qi” arrive at the needle, which may include slight tingling, or itchy sensation, or even a dull pressure. All these sensations indicate that the needle is doing its job, with the intention of correcting the imbalance within your body. After a few minutes most people fall asleep, or become so relaxed they feel as though they are in a deep meditative state of restoration. The needles are usually retained for 20-30 minutes.

What do I need to know before my first acupuncture treatment?

Your experience during your visit is important in your healing process. For this reason great care is taken to ensure you are comfortable and informed, inviting you to participate in your healing journey. Please be sure to have eaten within a few hours of your appointment time, dress comfortably, and arrive on time to ensure the best outcome for your treatment.

How many treatments will I need?

We partner with each patient we welcome into our care so they can fully participate in their healing journey towards optimal health and well-being. Each person has a unique constitution and presenting condition that requires careful evaluation and diagnostic assessment. For this reason a customized treatment plan is created just for you. In most cases you can anticipate a series of treatments anywhere between 6-12 visits. For some people it may only take 3 sessions to clear their presenting condition and set them on the path of vitality.

What are your fees?

Please call the clinic at 360-393-8302 for the current rates and customized treatment plans. We offer 5% and 10% discount fees on our Optimal Wellness Packages. Payment is due at the time of your appointment. Cash, check, Health Savings Accounts (HSA), FSA, and credit cards are accepted. Do you take insurance?

We are an out-of-network insurance provider and do not deal with insurance companies directly. Please check your policy to learn about your plan.

We are happy to provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

Please note that Medicare covers acupuncture for back pain only at this time. As of this time, no insurance policy covers Chinese herbs or acupuncture for fertility treatments. We hope to see this change.

What is your cancellation policy?

Your appointment time is reserved especially for you. If you find it necessary to change or cancel your appointment please provide a 24-hour notice courtesy call to avoid being charged the full fee for your appointment. This allows time for someone else to schedule for their own healthcare needs. Unforeseen emergencies are, of course, excluded.

Credit Card Authorization

In order to provide a smooth invoicing process, we require a credit card on file for all services. During your first booking you will find information about this policy in our authorization form.

We are happy you are here and look forward to working together with you. If you have any further questions, or would like to schedule your first initial visit please call the clinic at 360-393-8302
